Financial Aid

Elmhurst University administers a wide variety of institutional, state and federal financial aid programs, including scholarships, grants, loans and student employment opportunities.

The University also offers several scholarships to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement or have exhibited skill in a specialized area. Most financial aid, however, is awarded to students who demonstrate financial need. Simply stated, financial need is determined by evaluating the cost of attending Elmhurst University and the results of the student’s FAFSA each year.

For most Elmhurst University scholarships and grants, students must be enrolled full-time and maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress.

To be eligible to receive federal financial aid, a student must meet the following criteria:

• Valid FAFSA

• U.S. citizen or an eligible noncitizen

• Enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an eligible degree or certificate program

• Enrolled at least half-time (for most federal aid)

• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

To be eligible to receive aid from the State of Illinois, a student must meet the following criteria:

• U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen or meet the criteria of the RISE Act

• Student or parent of student is a resident of the State of Illinois

• Enrolled in first bachelor’s degree program

• Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress

• Demonstrated financial need
