Intercollegiate Athletics

With 20 varsity sports, Elmhurst University competes in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW), one of the top conferences in NCAA Division III athletics. The University is large enough to offer a wide choice of sports, but small enough that student athletes can truly contribute. In the past decade, the Bluejays have won conference championships in women’s volleyball, wrestling, baseball, softball, women’s cross-country, and men’s basketball, with men’s basketball team recently qualifying for NCAA post-season play and earning a spot in the Division III National Championship game. Individual athletes have competed at the NCAA Championships in four sports: women’s cross-country, wrestling, and men’s and women’s track and field, with 30 athletes earning All-American honors in the past decade. Most Elmhurst teams boast grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher, and student-athletes have won recent Academic All-America honors in six sports, with three teams recently winning academic honors. Over 300 student-athletes have achieved Academic All-Conference honors in the past few years. In the past 10 years, the number of Bluejay athletes has more than doubled, and today, more than 500 Elmhurst students participate in intercollegiate athletics.
